On a lovely sunny day I ventured out to the NEC for the Dentistry Show, I wasn’t working so arrived at 11.45, I picked up a guide and a floorplan. The show was much bigger than I expected.
My first stop was the BusinessIQ stand, the team were busy talking to customer about the Learn, Grow and Consult programme. www.hsbusinessiq.co.uk. I had the pleasure of meeting Bernie Hollywood OBE http://www.berniehollywood.com/ (what an inspiring man!) and the teams from the CleanMyTeeth campaign http://cleanmyteeth.co.uk/ and BrushUpUK http://www.brushupuk.com/. We all headed across to Bridge2aid stand, what an event they had on!
I spent some time talking Megan who set up BrushUpUK, a blog will follow with her amazing story of why BrushUpUK came to life.
The opportunities for dental practices to give something back are incredible, if you want to set up a corporate social responsibility programme let me know.
I then made my way across to Software of Excellence, Martin was talking to a dentist who is on my area. The SOE healthchecks give a helicopter view of how a dental practice is performing. Focusing on KPIs such as chair time utilisation, FTA rates, short notice cancelations and recall completion. I was able to discuss with the customer the business development and training side of what I do to support business growth.
Dentsply were next on my list of people to see. Two interesting new products, WaveOne Gold and the X-Smart IQ. WaveOne Gold, a development on WaveOne, remains a single file system and is stronger and more flexible with less memory, it is actually pre-bendable too. The X-Smart IQ is cordless, able to facilitate reciprocating and rotary files and can amazingly record your treatment! It works in conjunction with an iPad mini.
I then bumped into one of my customers, he was looking for a new curing light, we headed to Heraeus Kulzer, Allan detailed Venus Pearl and iBond. Our current offer is buy a kit of Venus Pearl and an iBond Value pack to get a FREE Translux Wave curing light. iBond is available in total etch or self etch or the new Universal bond, this contains MDP the same monomer as Panavia for superior bonding in all situations.
I still had lots of people to see and was running out of time!
I then headed off to see Jem from JSPMediaGroup to learn about Patient Lounge TV. Why not engage patients as they sit in your practice? Use it to increase treatment uptake and educate patients. You create your channel from a bank of videos stored on JSPs servers. www.patientloungetv.com
Heart your Smile next! The gorgeous Lizzie has done some amazing work setting up A Wild Smile. Visit www.awildsmile.org register and you can download lots of educational resources FREE! There are a number of different characters each with a different oral health message and activities.
Finally back to the BusinessIQ stand, I had a demonstration of DBTV, an app available to enable you to email to your patients videos of the treatment you have talked to them about. Educate, Explain and Engage.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my day as a visitor at the Dentistry Show, I didn’t get to see everyone I had hoped to and I haven’t even mentioned all the lectures available or Digital dentistry. I would recommend you to visit next year, there are so many exciting changes in the industry currently, how do you keep up to date unless you attend events like this? Feel free to answer that via my contacts page!
Until next time,
